Japonica rice is a Japanese short variety of rice, sometimes called Sinica rice, which is one of the two main Asian rice varieties. Japonica rice is widely grown and consumed in China, Japan, Korea and Taiwan. In Vietnam, it is grown mainly in Dong Thap and An Giang province.aponica rice has a number of characteristics such as: round, regular, plump, cotton-like white grains, delicate and gentle aroma. When cooked, the rice becomes white and sticky, easy to eat, even when cooled, the rice grains still retain their inherent elasticity.
